Both functions optimise the workflow, offering measurably shorter working times and significant improvements in ergonomics at the workstation. KaVo is the only manufacturer to offer a treatment unit with a fully integrated surgical function – comparable to standalone devices.
The intelligent, flexible ESTETICA E80 treatment system has been designed with ergonomics in mind, and therefore it guarantees smooth movement sequences that assist you to maintain a healthy posture without strain. The integrated endodrive and surgical drive are completely new features. It is now not only unnecessary to purchase additional expensive instruments but the unit optimises the workflow and provides improved ergonomics.
The KaVo SL 550 surgical light motor can be added to the classical six instruments on the ESTETICA E80 instrument holder. This provides the user with the unrestricted functions of a modern surgical unit with the KaVo INTRA LUX CL 10, INTRA LUX CL3-09 and INTRA LUX CL3-04 surgical light instruments, a feature unique in the market. The ESTETICA E80 automatically recognizes which of the KaVo surgical light instruments you are using, and sets the correct reduction ratio. Program steps for up to six implants can be set at the program level. The display on the dentist element shows all important settings. The maximum torque of each step is measured and provides you with important information for evaluating the primary stability of the implants. The INTRA LUX SL 550 surgical motor provides a maximum torque of 5.5 Ncm over a speed range of 300-12 000 rpm. In the upper speed range the torque is reduced to protect the bone and prevent the motor from overheating. The torque can also be limited for additional safety. The attachment of the surgical motor to the dentist element by a quick-release coupling makes it easy to remove the supply hose and motor for sterilisation after treatment.
The ESTETICA E80 comes with the new, collectorless sterilisable KL 702 motor. In addition to its normal speed range (2,000 – 40,000 rpm), it has a special endodontics function with adjustable torque limitation. Depending on the transmission ratio of your instrument, you can freely program torques within 0.15 and 8 Ncm. The speed range of 100 – 6,000 rpm is also available. The parameters for six different endodontic steps can also be stored to optimise the workflow.
This treatment unit is unbeatable with these integrated specialist components. The perfectly adjusted workflow integrates all instruments allowing the user to concentrate on the treatment and measurably reduces the time required for treatment. Innovative solutions mean improved safety, and reductions in lost time and money, making the unit more economical to use.

At IDS 2007, KaVo presents to the market its new GENTLEray 980, a diode laser for soft tissue surgery, decontamination procedures in periodontics and endodontics, as well as for laser-assisted bleaching. The laser is distinguished by an especially user-friendly software, and is available in two versions.

Biberach/Riss, 21/05/2007 - At IDS 2007, KaVo presents to the market its new GENTLEray 980, a diode laser for soft tissue surgery, decontamination procedures in periodontics and endodontics, as well as for laser-assisted bleaching. The laser is distinguished by an especially user-friendly software, and is available in two versions.
The diode laser GENTLEray 980 works with laser light in a wavelength of 980nm which shows minimum absorption in water and high absorption in haemoglobin and melanin. Classical operating areas for the new KaVo laser are soft tissue surgery with good coagulation effect, disinfection of tissue by the treatment of bacterial infection, laser-supported sulcus sterilisation or endodontics, as well as laser-assisted bleaching. The KaVo GENTLEray 980 Laser is available in two versions – Classic und Premium.
The GENTLEray 980 Classic provides a performance of 6 Watt cw, is delivered with a hand-piece containing 300µm fibres as standard, and can be optionally upgraded to the Premium variation. The GENTLEray 980 Premium is designed for better patient comfort and a faster healing process with a water cooling system (peristaltic pump). This reduces thermal damage, thereby enabling less painful treatment with a reduction of post-operative discomfort.
With the aid of the water supply, blood particles remaining after the SRP are rinsed from the pocket, so that as well as the laser-assisted sulcus sterilisation, disepithialization in the pockets can take place more efficiently. Furthermore, the GENTLEray 980 Premium diode laser provides a higher performance (7 Watt cw, 12 Watt peak), and the possibility of micro-pulsation at a frequency of up to 20.000 Hz. The increased treatment efficiency of the Premium variation allows for faster procedures and shortened exposure times to the laser beams. Apart from the water cooling, the pulsating application of the laser beam can further reduce undesirable thermal side effects, taking into consideration the tissue-specific relaxation time.
Operation of the small, lightweight KaVo GENTLEray 980 diode laser, which can be employed for 30 preset indication-specific conditions, takes place simply and hygienically via the touch-screen display. Also new is a software-aided help function with application recommendations, which is of great assistance to the dentist.
In comparison to conventional therapy, treatment with the GENTLEray 980 ensures only light bleeding, reduced swellings and in the course of time, just minor post-operative discomfort as well as the reduced need for pain relievers. This results in comfortable, painless therapy for the patient and a stress-free treatment situation for the operator and the practice team.

Because it can be sterilized, the new KaVo micro-motor KL 702 makes a significant contribution to the protection of health for both the patient and the practice team. During the course of continuous improvements, it was possible at the same time to reduce the motor speed to an as yet unreachable minimum of 100 rpm.

During the course of continuous improvements, it was possible at the same time to reduce the motor speed to an as yet unreachable minimum of 100 rpm.
Within the field of patient treatment, not only instruments but also micro-motors are affected by contamination with micro-organisms. Until now, these could only be deactivated by disinfecting methods. With its new brush-less, wear resistant KL 702, KaVo brings to the market for the first time a micro-motor which can be sterilised in the autoclave. This addresses the hygiene requirements of the dental practice in the best possible way.
However, improvements have been made not only in aspects of hygiene but also in technical respects, as the KL 702 now offers new advantages. The speed range of the micro-motor was able to be extended and now rotates in a spectrum from 100 to 40,000 rpm, providing a suitable control unit is used. Thus, KaVo has succeeded in reducing the currently existing minimum speed for a brush-less motor from 2,000 rpm to 100 rpm.

A combination of the new treatment unit ESTETICA E80, with the contra-angle GENTLEpower 20LP as well as the also new INTRA LUX heads 68LU und 66LU, now makes it possible for the KL 702 Motor to carry out endodontic therapy, thereby making expensive additional instrumentation superfluous.
