Biberach/'Riss, 21/05/2007 - With the new X-ray system KaVo 3D eXam, high resolution three dimensional radiographs can be generated quickly, simply and cost-effectively. The system offers the user an enlarged spectrum of possibilities and a totally higher order of patient care. With this diagnostic imaging technology, KaVo is once again setting the gold standard.
The KaVo 3D eXam cone-beam X-ray system generates high resolution three-dimensional radiographs at a lower cost and with reduced radiation than by traditional computerized tomography. To this end, an intuitive operating software helps to create the recordings simply and quickly. The volumetric diagnostic imaging system of the KaVo 3D eXam grants a comprehensive view of all oral and maxillo-facial structures, thereby making available sound diagnostic data for a broad spectrum of treatments. The high-resolution pictures provide complete three-dimensional views of critical anatomical structures for a more thorough analysis of bone structures and orientation of the teeth, as well as an optimum provision and placement for implants. With the aid of conventional software packages, 3D eXam can use the data for virtual implant planning. Equally, for the analysis of the bone morphology of the TMJ; of the TMJ cleft; and joint function, the system can portray three- dimensional pictures of the condyles as part of the surrounding structures. In orthodontic dentistry it is possible to trim the multitude of OPG, cephalometric and miniature recordings by an efficient application of the exposition and to reduce them to a single volume record. The necessary views can thereby be easily obtained. The typical recording time of only 8.5 seconds reduces the loss of quality caused by the patient moving, and notably diminishes exposure to radiation in comparison to a classic computerized tomography of the mouth and face regions. The adjustable radiation limitation makes possible not only large format recordings, but also targeted smaller recording fields with additional reductions of the radiation dose. By use of the high-definition scan, the recordings provide excellent resolution even by volume element sizes from 0.125mm. The 14 bit gray scale ensures an outstanding reproduction of detail with the highest contrast. Via a DICOM 3 compatible software interface, simple further processing of the image data can take place using conventional software packages. KaVo 3D eXam provides the user with a most advanced dental imaging technique for an expanded spectrum of therapy in the practice. The system combines the latest radiological technology with ergonomic design, is economically interesting and delivers picture quality corresponding to the highest requirements of the modern dental practice.

Biberach/Riss, 21/05/2007 - At IDS 2007, Kavo introduced to the market together with the new dental unit ESTETICA E80, also a new 3F multi-function handpiece, which demonstrates some interesting advantages.
The new, slim handpiece is provided with completely separated supply systems, thus ensuring an absolutely dry air supply. The reduction in diameter size of the handpiece improves not only the ergonomics but also the access to the molar regions. The light supply of the new 3F multi-function handpiece is located on the cannula, so that optimal illumination of the oral cavity can be achieved. The higher performing heating method of the new multi-function hand-piece allows for faster heating-up of the air and water. The cannulas can, of course, be disinfected using heat and sterilized, so that safe and comfortable re-cycling can follow after use. Despite these numerous product advantages, the handpiece offers an attractive price-performance ratio.

Biberach/Riss, 21/05/2007 - Because it can be sterilized, the new KaVo micro-motor KL 702 makes a significant contribution to the protection of health for both the patient and the practice team. During the course of continuous improvements, it was possible at the same time to reduce the motor speed to an as yet unreachable minimum of 100 rpm.
Within the field of patient treatment, not only instruments but also micro-motors are affected by contamination with micro-organisms. Until now, these could only be deactivated by disinfecting methods. With its new brush-less, wear resistant KL 702, KaVo brings to the market for the first time a micro-motor which can be sterilised in the autoclave. This addresses the hygiene requirements of the dental practice in the best possible way. However, improvements have been made not only in aspects of hygiene but also in technical respects, as the KL 702 now offers new advantages. The speed range of the micro-motor was able to be extended and now rotates in a spectrum from 100 to 40,000 rpm, providing a suitable control unit is used. Thus, KaVo has succeeded in reducing the currently existing minimum speed for a brush-less motor from 2,000 rpm to 100 rpm. (maximum torque 2,7 Ncm) A combination of the new treatment unit ESTETICA E80, with the contra-angle GENTLEpower 20LP as well as the also new INTRA LUX heads 68LU und 66LU, now makes it possible for the KL 702 Motor to carry out endodontic therapy, thereby making expensive additional instrumentation superfluous.

Biberach/Riss, 21/05/2007 - For IDS 2007 KaVo has equipped the KAVOLUX 1410 operating lights with a new arm system, which with regard to design and ergonomic requirements is very impressive, as well as providing the user freedom from intricate, time-consuming handling.
The new spring-loaded arm of the KAVOLUX 1410 B/C light can be easily and ergonomically moved. The height-adjustable arm system makes possible an optimal, stable positioning of the light with sure, precise adjustment, so that the treatment field can always be well illuminated even in extreme positions. The infinitely variable control of the light strength from 8,000 lux up to 30,000 lux allows for individual adaptation of the illumination to the corresponding daylight, thus protecting the eyes. Additionally, the two-part movable glass-coated reflector ensures a shadow-less, dazzle-free field of light with comprehensive illumination during each phase of treatment. This allows for good visual contrast with less tiresome working, without the patient being blinded. The durable, specially developed halogen light-bulb can be quickly changed, thereby ensuring fluent practice procedures. The KAVOLUX 1410C operating light is available only in combination with the new KaVo treatment unit ESTETICA E80, and in comparison to the 1410B model, it provides additional functions. Thus, the 1410C light can be manually switched on or off over the operator’s or assistant’s element of the ESTETICA E80, and can be dimmed in 5 stages at the touch of a button. The almost dust-free housing of the light offers highest security for hygiene purposes and enables easy care. The handles are simple to change for convenient maintenance and renewal.
