The Leica HM500 head-mounted microscope combines maximum precision, flexibility and viewingBiberach a.d.Riss/Wetzlar, 14/06/2010 - The Leica HM500 high-end microscope starts a new era of viewing excellence in dentistry. This head-mounted dental microscope with brilliant optical quality provides an excellent three-dimensional view of all details in the operating field from any angle and allows the dentist to work with maximum precision and efficiency. KaVo Dental supplies this innovative technology by Leica Microsystems, one of the leading manufacturers of surgical microscopes, in the framework of a dental marketing and development partnership.
"Look as always and see as never before." The Leica HM500 is worn like a conventional loupe but offers unprecedented advantages for dental surgery. The unique concept of miniaturizing high-end microscopes and combining them with the flexibility and ergonomics of a head-mounted system is a product of the extensive knowledge and experience of Leica Microsystems. An integrated coaxial light system provides completely uniform and shadow-free illumination of the operating field. The excellent depth of field of the optics produces sharp and crystal-clear images. This combination allows precise control, even when working in extremely narrow cavities. The dentist has an optimal view at all times, and the autofocus eliminates the need for manual adjustments, even when the magnification changes.
Thanks to its sophisticated ergonomic design, the Leica HM500 headset can be mounted quickly and remains perfectly balanced, allowing the user to work fatigue-free and efficiently, even when performing lengthy operations. All of the microscope functions are controlled entirely by a footswitch to ensure hands-free operation, allowing dentists to concentrate their full attention on the treatment field. Dr. Del Gregory, D.D.S., from Macon, GA summarized his experience as follows: "The technology of the Leica HM500 system allows us to achieve perfect treatment results with much less stress and physical exertion." The Leica HM500 is not only the "high-end eye" of the dentist during treatment, but is also an ideal tool for documentation, presentation and training. It has an integrated autofocus video camera that allows the user to transfer the treatment images to a monitor in outstanding quality and precisely from the surgeon's point of view. There is no other dental microscope like it!

Biberach/'Riss, 21/05/2007 - With the new X-ray system KaVo 3D eXam, high resolution three dimensional radiographs can be generated quickly, simply and cost-effectively. The system offers the user an enlarged spectrum of possibilities and a totally higher order of patient care. With this diagnostic imaging technology, KaVo is once again setting the gold standard.
The KaVo 3D eXam cone-beam X-ray system generates high resolution three-dimensional radiographs at a lower cost and with reduced radiation than by traditional computerized tomography. To this end, an intuitive operating software helps to create the recordings simply and quickly. The volumetric diagnostic imaging system of the KaVo 3D eXam grants a comprehensive view of all oral and maxillo-facial structures, thereby making available sound diagnostic data for a broad spectrum of treatments. The high-resolution pictures provide complete three-dimensional views of critical anatomical structures for a more thorough analysis of bone structures and orientation of the teeth, as well as an optimum provision and placement for implants. With the aid of conventional software packages, 3D eXam can use the data for virtual implant planning. Equally, for the analysis of the bone morphology of the TMJ; of the TMJ cleft; and joint function, the system can portray three- dimensional pictures of the condyles as part of the surrounding structures. In orthodontic dentistry it is possible to trim the multitude of OPG, cephalometric and miniature recordings by an efficient application of the exposition and to reduce them to a single volume record. The necessary views can thereby be easily obtained. The typical recording time of only 8.5 seconds reduces the loss of quality caused by the patient moving, and notably diminishes exposure to radiation in comparison to a classic computerized tomography of the mouth and face regions. The adjustable radiation limitation makes possible not only large format recordings, but also targeted smaller recording fields with additional reductions of the radiation dose. By use of the high-definition scan, the recordings provide excellent resolution even by volume element sizes from 0.125mm. The 14 bit gray scale ensures an outstanding reproduction of detail with the highest contrast. Via a DICOM 3 compatible software interface, simple further processing of the image data can take place using conventional software packages. KaVo 3D eXam provides the user with a most advanced dental imaging technique for an expanded spectrum of therapy in the practice. The system combines the latest radiological technology with ergonomic design, is economically interesting and delivers picture quality corresponding to the highest requirements of the modern dental practice.

| 21/05/2007: KaVo ARCUSdigma II: instrumental functional diagnostics innovative, practice-oriented | |
|---|
The new ARCUSdigma II offers the dentist essential information regarding movements of the lower jaw, thus providing optimum assistance during the investigation of TMJ problems. Simultaneously, it supplies relevant information of lower jaw movements for prosthetic purposes which have to be taken into account when programming the articulator – thereby enabling the production of a functional prosthesis. Necessary occlusal adjustments of the prosthesis, which are mainly difficult and time consuming, particularly with modern ceramic materials, can therefore be reduced to a minimum.

Biberach/Riss, 21/05/2007 - The new ARCUSdigma II offers the dentist essential information regarding movements of the lower jaw, thus providing optimum assistance during the investigation of TMJ problems.
The new KaVo ARCUSdigma II is an electronic movement recording system, which is based on the principle of elapsed time measurements from ultrasonic signals. By increasing the number of sensors to four transmitters and eight microphones, the accuracy of measurement could be substantially increased compared to the previous ARCUSdigma. Besides articulator programming, EPA (electronic position analysis) and analysis of movements, ARCUSdigma II can be additionally upgraded with the module EAEF (electronic analysis of aetiological factors) and centric determination. By use of this new EAEF Module from Prof. Bumann, painful TMJ positions can be analysed, documented and correlated in relation to movement recordings, during the diagnosis of CMD-patients. This enables the operator to carry out therapeutic adjustments of the dynamic occlusion and to implement these in the initial splint therapy. With the “centric determination” module of ARCUSdigma II it has been successful for the first time to integrate the determination of the centric position in a 3D measuring system for programming the articulator. The new module assists the operator with the detection and production of registrations in the centric position. With the help of the adduction-field method, a defined lower jaw position is calculated out of the “target area” from the patient’s bite. This lower jaw position is then transferred under computer control exactly into a centric record. In combination with the Digma support pin registration, protrusive and lateral movements are analysed. This method (Gothic arch) is primarily suitable for CMD and edentulous patients. Supporters of the method “manual transfer of centric determination” have the possibility to transfer the desired centric position to a centric registration, under computer control. ARCUSdigma II can be freely positioned either as a stand-alone unit in the treatment room, or adapted to the assistant’s element of the new KaVo dental unit ESTETICA E80. The measured data can be transmitted to the PC either online per USB or wireless (only in connection with ERGOcom 4) – alternatively, data can be stored offline by means of an SD memory card. In view of the ever increasing importance of patient documentation and quality of security, the storage of measured data provides a great help for the operator. With ARCUSdigma II lower jaw movements can be quickly and precisely captured. Furthermore, the system makes possible a faster, economical and practice-oriented application of a more specific and therapeutically relevant method of “instrumental functional analysis.”
