Biberach/Riss, 21/05/2007 - The new 4-axis system Everest Base Camp from KaVo offers dental laboratories a cost-efficient entry into CAD/CAM technology with the unique opportunity for a later upgrade to a 5-axis system.
One of the highlights of this year’s IDS is the KaVo Everest Base Camp. This completely new 4-axis system provides the laboratory with an easy “entrance to advancement” to the peak of CAD/CAM systems supporting the dental laboratory. Everest Base Camp is a cost-efficient alternative to KaVo Everest and was specially developed for the production-oriented laboratory seeking a secure investment in CAD/CAM technology with a foreseeable amortization period and increased profitability. Positioned in the medium price range, Everest Base Camp is obtainable for about half the price of the full system and with KaVo quality, high productivity and – unique to the market – the possibility of upgrading to a full 5-axis system makes the system very attractive to the end-user. Everest Base Camp produces caps and bridge frameworks of up to 4 units, milled from round blanks, with a productivity of 50 units per day. A particular advantage for the user, however, is that Base Camp can be easily upgraded in several stages to the already well established “Peak Version” Everest, thus leaving all options open for the system to be adapted exactly to the requirements and service portfolio of the individual laboratory. The option to upgrade for implants especially allows for a long-term perspective, without the laboratory having to make firm decisions at the entry stage. With the simultaneous introduction of round material blanks for a dramatic increase in production, KaVo is supporting the concept and the amortization of Base Camp in an ideal way, also allowing for the milling system to be in use around the clock. The high throughput of data and panoramic recording capability of the proven Everest scan technology ensures high precision and adequate accuracy of fit, which applies also to Base Camp.

Biberach/Riss, 21/05/2007 - Everest Energy, the CAD software for the KaVo Everest CAD/CAM System is impressive due to its simple, efficient and intuitive design of restorations. Relinquishing as far as possible slide controls and “dial ups”, as well as the possibility of working directly on the object, makes learning the new software child’s play.
In addition to designing crowns and bridge frameworks of up to 14 units, Everest Energy offers the possibility of scanning all types of individual wax-ups, and milling with the assistance of the 5-axis technology of the Everest engine. Additionally, in cooperation with Neoss, KaVo is also offering for the first time a software module to create individual implant abutments. Using the so-called Neolinks from Neoss, which have been specially modified for the Everest System, a large range of current implant systems can be utilized. In particular, of special interest to the user is that as well as the individual abutment, the applicable crown cap can be jointly constructed directly in the laboratory and later jointly milled. This saves time and money. In order to further increase the productivity of the Everest system, KaVo is also offering the so-called round-blanks materials for the Everest elements. These blanks, which will be available in various degrees of thickness for the materials ZS (zirconium soft), TI (pure titanium) and C-Temp (fibreglass-reinforced resin polymers), make it possible to process overnight up to 28 units per blank without de-vesting. Only partially processed blanks can be used again later in the so-called “nesting procedure”. In summary, users now have available an optimised Everest system, orientated to the future.

For the dental technician, the hand-piece constitutes one of the most important tools in everyday use. The new K-ERGOgrip from KaVo makes its contribution to the protection of workers against work-related health dangers and the improvement of working conditions. It is impressive not only because of conventional parameters of quality, like torque performance and speed, but in addition due to the ergonomically optimised geometry of the grip.

Biberach/Riss, 21/05/2007 - For the dental technician, the hand-piece constitutes one of the most important tools in everyday use. The new K-ERGOgrip from KaVo makes its contribution to the protection of workers against work-related health dangers and the improvement of working conditions. It is impressive not only because of conventional parameters of quality, like torque performance and speed, but in addition due to the ergonomically optimised geometry of the grip.
With the K-ERGOgrip, KaVo sets new standards in the field of laboratory drive systems. The ergonomic, revolutionary design of the gripping area was realized following the ergonomic studies done at the Fraunhofer Institute, Stuttgart. Thanks to the overall light weight and complete length of only 140 mm, the hand-piece lies most comfortably in the hand. The configuration with two differing grip sleeves allows for an individual fit to the large anatomical differences and the personal sensitivity of the hands. Softgrip-Inlets, which have already proved themselves with the K-POWERgrip, increase the relaxed and good feeling of the grip. The single shaft system with only two bearings guarantees ease of servicing. The speed range lies between 1,000 and 50,000 rpm, with a maximum torque of 6,5 Ncm. A new chuck mechanism, easily changeable without the use of tools, together with the new control unit K-Control TLC, allow for an unrestricted speed range even in reverse motion. The new control unit offers extended functions in the form of four separate pre-settings for speed or torque, dependent on the material, which can be stored. These are indicated on the LCD-Display in differing background colours. Pressing the incremental transmitter makes it possible to switch between the programmes. The K-Control TLC is available in knee, bench or foot-operated versions. The compatibility of existing laboratory drive systems with the new control unit K-Control TLC is virtually unrestricted. (Exceptions: K10 and High Frequency systems)
