KaVo Dental GmbH, a leading international dental company, has forged a strategic partnership with Leica Microsystems, a leading manufacturer of innovative surgical microscopes, for marketing and development of dental products in Europe. In the first stage of this partnership, KaVo will launch the marketing of Leica dental microscopes in Germany and Austria. The goal of this strategic alliance is to provide the modern dentist with state-of-the-art microscopy systems of the highest quality. The potential to integrate a dental microscope into an existing treatment unit and thus to optimize the workflow is of particular added value to the dentist.
Designed for Dentists – Dental microscopes with superb functionality
The benefits of the synergy between KaVo und Leica Microsystems are readily apparent. For decades, both of these two strong brands have been known in their respective markets for innovative products characterized by superb quality, outstanding ergonomic design and maximum user benefits. "The strong cooperation between KaVo and Leica Microsystems, particularly during the new product development process, will make us better equipped than any other dental manufacturer to supply dental microscopes that can be optimally integrated into the workflows of dental practice," asserted Ruth C. Geßner, General Manager of KaVo's Equipment Business Unit. "For this project, having a cooperation partner who, like KaVo, belongs to the Danaher Corporation gives us a tremendous advantage", Geßner added.
"Entering the dental market together with KaVo will enable Leica Microsystems to expand its position on the surgical microscope market. In addition, we expect to receive valuable feedback from KaVo customers, which will help us to develop further innovations in dental microscopy", said Herbert Stüttler, Director of Leica Microsystems' Surgical Business Unit. "Another particular advantage is KaVo's wide distribution network, which will ensure us optimal access to the dental microscope market, a growing business sector", he concluded.
The new Leica M320 dental microscope and the head-mounted Leica HM500 by Leica Microsystems were tailor-made for the requirements of modern dental surgery. These instruments combine elegance, sophisticated functional design, ease of operation and ergonomic control with the well-known quality of Leica Optics.
Optical systems by Leica Microsystems have held key market positions in numerous medical fields such neurosurgery, ophthalmic surgery and otolaryngology surgery for many years.

When the XXIX Olympic Summer Games start in Beijing on 8 August 2008, KaVo will be proud to be playing their part in this prestigious event having supplied a total of eight treatment units for the medical and dental centre. One of the Olympic Committee’s priorities is to ensure optimum dental care during the games. The Olympic Dental Clinic has been equipped with six Primus 1058 and two ESTETICA E80 treatment units to treat athletes if necessary.
