The cleaning and disinfection agent for dental suction systems
Ready to use: No stirring, shaking or mixing - DEKASEPTOL Gel is a ready-made blend and is immediately active.Easy to use: No mixing also means: no mistakes, no contact with sensitive hands, no dirty work surfaces, and no stress on materials. A completely clean affair. Time saving: complete suction system disinfection within 80 sec. Average time-saving of 2-3 minutes per dental unit. An early finish means a long happy evening. Gel: DEKASEPTOL Gel adheres to the internal walls of the suction hoses and prolongs its anti-microbial depot action. Therefore it does not tend to flush straight through hoses and has a long-term effect. Bactericidal, fungicidal, virucidal, tuberkulocidal, HBV-effective, HIV-effective: complete protection for patients and practicioners - and all this using an ecologically harmless agent which is easily and quickly biodegradable according to OECD guidelines.
Water-conveying dental tubins and systems are frequently populated by microorganisms. These multiply on the walls and form a biofilm. In periods of stagnation, these can lead to considerable contamination of the treatment water. This problem can be avoided by installing a disinfection unit and using a disinfectant (see "Andforderungen an die Hygiene in der Zahnmedizin" [Hygiene requirements in dentistry], Bundesgesundheitsblatt 1998:363-369).
Various methods are known for disinfecting water in dental units. They are generally based on the fact that the water to be disinfected is brought into contact with an appropriate medium in order to kill the microorganisms contained in the water. Atomic oxygen and HO radicals are among the strongest oxidizing agents, which have a bactericidal effect owing to their strong oxidizing power.
Since 1986, KaVo has therefore been using hydrogen peroxide, the action of which is enhanced by silver ions ("Oxygenal 6"). In addition to many expert opinions (including WALKER et al. 2003, LYNCH 2003, see "Technical literature") which confirm the efficacy of "Oxygenal 6", the tried and tested product has further advantages which distinguish it from other disinfectants. Good material compatibility was demonstrated by numerous tests and laboratory investigation. In the concentration used, it presents no danger for patients and staff, and it decomposes completely into water and oxygen.
DEKASEPTOL Gel is mixed ready for use and extremely fast to apply. Within approx. 80 seconds, a complete disinfection cycle for the entire suction system can be carried out.

Use
KaVo CLEANspray is alcohol-free and is used for manual, intensive, internal cleaning of straight and contra-angle handpieces plus turbines. (Both gear and spray channels).
Suitability and efficiency is demonstrated by a report based on the standard series ISO 15883 and instructions from the DGSV – German Society for Sterile Supply e.V. Use:
Flush out contra-angle handpieces or turbines with corresponding care adapters, with 3 spray bursts within 2 seconds, and then let the spray solution act for one minute.
Then flush out with KaVo DRYspray for 3-5 seconds, to dry the instrument.
After this intensive, internal cleaning, perform the normal preparation steps according to the valid recommendations and guidelines.
This KaVo care system offers products for ensuring that the value of your instruments and turbines is retained.
Results
By using KaVo CLEANspray and KaVo DRYspray for the intensive, internal cleaning of your instruments and turbines, you ensure that the required standards are met and that health & safety in your practice is maximised in combination with the normal steps for preparation.

The KaVo care technology with spirit
A questionnaire has shown that manual care always leads to oil on the hands and the emergence of excess oil, from the instrument during use. This may give rise to a wide range of problems.
KaVo QUATTROcare achieves an excellent cleaning and lubricating effect through a specially tailored spray formulation. Adequate lubrication without the danger of overoiling is ensured by the automatic dispenser.
The high expandability of the new formulation gives rise to a better cleaning effect. It is a combination of chemically dynamic and physical cleaning which releases the dirt and transports it outside. So no additional rotation in the KaVo QUATTROcare is necessary. The QUATTROcare spray in conjunction with the QUATTROcare guarantees the right dose and the best possible care through the automatic care sequence.

Intensive disinfection
The disinfection system in KaVo units meters disinfectants proportionally, based on volume, to the treatment water. All water-conveying instruments, such as multifunction syringe, turbine, scaler, straight and contra-angle handpieces and the tumbler water are treated with "Oxygenal 6". The hydrogen peroxide concentration is 0.02%. In addition, most KaVo units have intensive disinfection with an active ingredient concentration of 0.25% of hydrogen peroxide.
The intensive disinfection should be carried out after long periods of nonoperation, when the fresh water is highly contaminated with germs, before the treatment of immune-compromised patients, but at the latest before the beginning of the weekend or of a holiday or before public holidays. All above-mentioned water routes are automatically flushed. This high disinfectant concentration is active for at least 30 minutes in the system and may act over the entire weekend. The unit is then automatically flushed with a lower concentration of hydrogen peroxide until a concentration of 0.02% of hydrogen peroxide is reached in the unit.
